Marriage Between a Man and a Woman Is Ordained of God

"We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God"

"THE FAMILY is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity."
The Family: A Proclamation to the World, (¶ 7)

Many in the world want to define marriage in other ways, or don't think marriage is important at all.

Heavenly Father has a plan for you.  What Heavenly Father most for His children is for them to be together in eternal families, and that means marriage between a man and a woman who have been married in the temple. A temple marriage is called a sealing - it can seal a family together forever, if they are faithful. There is no other way for a family to be eternal and to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

There is a lot of confusion in the world about marriage.  You will each need to pray for your own testimony that this is God's plan.  Can you do that? Can you ask Heavenly Father often when you pray for a testimony of the importance of a husband and wife, a man and a woman, to be sealed in the temple?

I sure love Grandpa.  And my parents.  And my children.  And my grandchildren.  And my brothers and sisters.  Each is so precious to me! I want us to be together for eternity; the thought fills me with so much joy! And that's what Heavenly Father's plan is all about, "men are, that they might have joy." 2 Nephi 2:25.

“Each day as you choose to live the commandments,                                         keep your baptismal covenants, and try to be more like Jesus Christ,               you are preparing to go to the temple.”
Vicki F. Matsumori, second counselor in the Primary general presidency,                                        “A Place of Love and Beauty,” Friend, Jan. 2002, 30.

Will you promise me to do all you can to be worthy to go to the temple and be sealed to an eternal companion? This will bring you true happiness.

"I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:19).

Here are some stories in the Friend magazine:
Another thing to understand: It is important for children to be born to a man and woman who are married.  Many children are born to unwed parents, which is not according to God's plan.

"Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity." (¶ 7)

"WE DECLARE the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan."(¶ 5)

Can you build a temple out of marshmallows and pretzels or toothpicks? Or maybe out of blocks or lego's? Please send me a photo of what you build! Maybe you can sing "Families Can Be Together Forever" or "I Love To See the Temple" as you build your temple.

Nice job!

President Howard W. Hunter counseled: “Let us share with our children the spiritual feelings we have in the temple. And let us teach them more earnestly and more comfortably the things we can appropriately say about the purposes of the house of the Lord.”Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Howard W. Hunter (2015), 184.

"They have taken away from the gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away. And all this have they done that they might pervert the right ways of the Lord, that they might blind the eyes and harden the hearts of the children of men" (1 Nephi 13:26–27).

Regarding the "religious practice of prayer in marriage. Over the past 15 years, prayer has received increased attention in connection with marriage. A qualitative study by Butler and colleagues (1998) produced several findings that were substantiated and supported in a quantitative follow-up study with 217 religious spouses (Butler, Stout, & Gardner, 2002). These findings included participants’ statements of belief that prayer enhanced experiences of emotional validation; promoted accountability toward deity; de-escalated negative interactions, contempt, hostility, and emotional reactivity; enhanced relation-ship behavior; facilitated partner empathy; increased self-change focus; encouraged reconciliation and problem-solving; and promoted a sense of guidance from God (Butler et al., 20" "Successful Marriages and Families: Proclamation Principles and Research Perspectives," Edited by Alan J.
